Teaching online works best when the lesson has a rhythm: a short opening, one idea at a time, a moment of interaction and a clear close. The tools below are the ones teachers use most.
Checklist before your first session
- Create a fixed room or recurring meeting for the batch
- Turn on the waiting room and a passcode
- Open the whiteboard and your slides before students arrive
- Appoint a co-host to watch chat and doubts
- Test your microphone, camera and internet five minutes early
- Decide how you will take attendance and share notes
Mistakes to avoid
- Teaching without a plan for interaction — add a poll or question every 10 minutes
- Letting everyone talk at once — mute on entry and use raise hand
- Forgetting to save the whiteboard before closing the meeting
