Teaching online works best when the lesson has a rhythm: a short opening, one idea at a time, a moment of interaction and a clear close. The tools below are the ones teachers use most.

Checklist before your first session

• Create a fixed room or recurring meeting for the batch
• Turn on the waiting room and a passcode
• Open the whiteboard and your slides before students arrive
• Appoint a co-host to watch chat and doubts
• Test your microphone, camera and internet five minutes early
• Decide how you will take attendance and share notes

Mistakes to avoid

• Teaching without a plan for interaction — add a poll or question every 10 minutes
• Letting everyone talk at once — mute on entry and use raise hand
• Forgetting to save the whiteboard before closing the meeting
• Ignoring weak connections — allow audio-only for students on poor networks
